What is a 'flash exchange'?

Inspired by an event from twitter user Gy, a 'flash exchange' is an exchange in which there is a short time period for sign ups, creation, and creator reveals, usually 72 hours. Word counts and art minimums and maximums are low to accomodate this.This is a centralized account to run monthly flash exchanges for various themes, characters or ships.

What are the requirements to participate?

Participants must have an AO3 account and meet the age requirements set by the exchanges mods! There's no application, no experience requirement, no minimum follower count.The minimum requirements for creations are as follows:
Art: 1 lined piece
Fic: 250-2000 words

What are the rules?

The rules are simple!
1. Sign up, following the rules of a given month's exchange
2. Respect your giftee's wants & do not wants
3. Post your assignment on time
4. Communicate with the monthly mods if anything comes upNon-compliance with the rules will result in a 1-month ban on flash exchange participation. We know that life happens and that these events are fast turnaround — in line with rule 4, if you find yourself unable to complete your assignment by the due date, PLEASE communicate!We ask that you talk to the mods listed on the monthly event page — while the HQ Flash Exchange account mods do frequently check email and DMs, contacting the monthly exchange mods is best.

What content is allowed?

This will depend on the monthly theme and the wishes of the flash exchange mods. We are overall a group comfortable with dark/problematic material, but it may not be appropriate for each exchange. See the monthly exchange page for more details about what is and is not allowed in a given month.

What are treats?

Treats are extra fanworks created for a participant in the exchange, outside of your assignment, or works created for participants by people outside of the exchange.From the 'Request Summary' page of the AO3 collection, you can view all the requests and prompts by the exchange participants. To write a treat, simply follow the word count and/or art min/max guidelines, respect the recipients 'do not wants', and post it as a gift to the collection!
